Cathryn & Andy
Cathryn was the first bride I met when I took over weddings at The Alma, and she was possibly THE most chilled and organised bride I’ve ever worked with! Cathryn turned up to our first meeting with her laptop in tow and within an hour we had the timings sorted, the menu confirmed and apart from her turning up on the day there wasn’t much else to do.
Choosing to stay the night prior to the wedding, Cathryn and her bridal party all got ready at The Alma with hair & make up arriving onsite early, this resulted in such a relaxed morning with everyone popping down for breakfast and to see how we were getting on with the set-up, and even practising the aisle walk.
Cathryn & Andy chose a beautiful emerald green for their wedding colours which complemented our décor and the rolling hills outside so well. Tying in the bridesmaid dresses, elements of the men’s suits and their chair sashes. With elegant white flowers with lots of green foliage, and a pop of burnt orange too (echoed with both the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Grooms dresses). The aisle and fireplace were simply dressed with lanterns and foliage which were later used to dress the tables for the wedding breakfast.
What stood out for me the most about Cathryn & Andy’s wedding, was just how much fun they had; from the moment the guests entered to the welcome sign that read “Welcome to Cathryn’s Wedding, Featuring Andy” to the wonderful speeches and onto the dance floor, this is a Bride & Groom who never stopped laughing.
Cathryn & Andy ended their amazing wedding day dancing away to The Barn Doors who got everyone up on their feet, and our resident DJ who kept them dancing until 1am!
With their bridal party and immediate family staying at The Alma overnight, everyone was able to enjoy a hearty breakfast together the next morning. Cathryn & Andy even chose to stay an extra night with us.
Why did you choose The Alma for your wedding:
-The venue is gorgeous; we always went there for meals so we already knew the food was excellent and the views were beautiful.
- We wanted something that said ‘wedding venue’ but nothing too stuffy and formal, so the Alma was just perfect.
-We actually looked at a few venues first but nothing felt right, one day we both just had a light bulb moment and it just made sense that we have it at the Alma.
- One of my close friends got married at the Alma in 2019 and it was the most stunning and enjoyable wedding ever.
